เนื้อเรื่อย่อ :
ในวันที่ 10 เดือนสิงหาคม ปี ค.ศ. 2010 จักรวรรดิบริททาเนียได้โจมตีญี่ปุ่นด้วยหุ่นยนต์รุ่นใหม่ ไนท์แมร์เฟรม ทำให้ญี่ปุ่นพ่ายแพ้ และเสียชื่อประเทศและอิสรภาพไป ประเทศญี่ปุ่นถูกเรียกว่า Area 11 (แอเรีย สิบเอ็ด) และคนญี่ปุ่นถูกเรียกว่า ชาว 11 (อีเลฟเว่น) ชาวอีเลฟเว่นถูกบังคับให้อาศัยอยู่ในถิ่นที่เสื่อมโทรม ในขณะที่ชาวบริททาเนียเข้ามาอาศัยในบ้านเรือนที่หรูหรา อย่างไรก็ตาม มีชาวญี่ปุ่นหลายกลุ่มที่ตั้งตัวเป็นกบฏ ต่อต้านบริททาเนีย เพื่ออิสระของประเทศญี่ปุ่น
